Happy Halloween

K understood the meaning of Trick or Treat this year.  For days leading up to Halloween, she would ask me what we were going to do that day. If trick or treating wasn’t mentioned, she would continue to ask what we would do the next day and the next day, until we ended the day with trick or treating.  Then she would get really excited and say to R, “We go to people’s houses and they give us candy!”  To which R would enthusiatically respond, “Candy, Candy!”

Before we went trick or treating, they were examining the candy stash. They were a little disappointed to learn that this was the candy we’d be handing out.

K was Anna from Frozen and R was Alice from Alice in Wonderland.

After some candy consumption it was time to dance.

K was really excited to show us how to leap.  She did a tutorial session at home.  Click to see how it went down. Kennedy is a leaping lady

Playing in the Snow

Andrew had a great idea for a “sled” and the girls loved it.

Five Inches

This is what we woke up to on Wednesday morning. Five inches of snow had fallen during the night.

The girls enjoyed looking at the snow. K excitedly called it “Christmas snow”.

Halloween 2013

We had a lovely Halloween.  R was a flower, K was a Carebear(Sunshine bear), I was Waldo, and Andrew was a hippie.

Progression of K + Water Pad

We love our local zoo. The water instillations throughout the zoo are wonderful. Here is how K approaches new experiences.

K sized up the situation. Water vs Toddler.Image

She observed the water from multiple angles.

After examining the water jet. She decided to inch closer.

Upon further experimentation, K found the metal water grate to be very slick. Falling didn’t stop this girl. While observing a few of the other children, she removed her shoes. After another fall she realized shoes were not the culprit of her first fall.

K is encouraged by another’s example to touch the water. (This other child is obviously the authority on all good things. K loved her Hello Kitty bathing suit and crocs.)

Image

Seeing what the other little girl did-K found she loved sticking her hands and feet in the water.

Image

R also had a great day at the zoo. The sun, fun, and fresh air made this little one tired.

Here’s a a picture of K’s face. It was missing from almost all of the zoo pictures.

I love this life and these girls.

First Official Haircut

The day finally came when the joy of seeing K’s hair grow out, was replaced by dismay for her ever growing mullet.  Humidity was wonderful at converting the offending back fringe into delightful curls.  It was the indoor scraggly mullet that prompted the trip to….
